It took me almost ten years of seriously thinking about a dog "training" business name before I landed on PawPerception. My inner thoughts and perceptions of dogs and training styles guided me over years of personal studying, training, learning... and along the way the word Perception hit me as what the name HAD to be because it encompassed what I wanted to say in a name. I wanted the name to show that it's so much more than an "obedience" class. Sure, we work on cues. Your pup can be an obedience pro! Our ultimate focus, however, is learning communication and understanding between dogs and their "owners" (Mentors, Guides, Parents, Managers, Best Friends, Teammates...).
It's life with a dog. Your dog. Working with them, communicating with them, understanding signals they've been trying to send you all along. I'll guide you through it all!
When I found Kim Brophey's L.E.G.S. Family Dog Mediation Course, I couldn't believe it because I finally saw an approach to dogs, a philosophy that I fully agreed with, believed in, that matched all the knowledge I'd already acquired. Becoming a Family Dog Mediator expanded my knowledge and mindset when it comes to our dogs' individual-yet-similar stories: Learning. Environment. Genetics. Self. There's a lot that goes into each of our furry companions. Is it a "behavioral problem" or is it something else? I'm so proud to be a Family Dog Mediator because Kim Brophey put what I and many other trainers and aspiring trainers were thinking into words, and taught so much more. Our dogs need this movement, we need this movement. It's Beyond Dog Training. It's about the whole dog.
And that's what PawPerception is all about. Communication between dog and person, understanding, working and living seamlessly and happily as a team or family unit. I'll teach you how to teach them!
